The development of sports
Compared with 1904 the programme was very tightened, only 78 of the former 95 events remained, thereunder also a few new events were, some only in that form in 1906. Only twelve sports were performed. Athletics, swimming, fencing, weightlifting, football, cycling, rowing, tennis, gymnastics and water diving remained. Performed again were Graeco-Roman wrestling and shooting. In the latter case the number of events are varying, some sources do not count the following four, because they are only the individual results for the team event: free rifle three positions, free rifle each kneeling, prone and standing.
